May Update!
about 2 years ago – Tue, May 17, 2022 at 10:34:56 AM

Hi everyone! We just wanted to give you all a quick update as to how our progress is going.

  • The first draft of the coloring book is finished and ready to go into editing, before layout.
  • We are in the process of editing the rulebook.
  • We have almost all of our scenarios in. Once those are all in, they'll be going to editing as well.
  • We have new items planned for the rooms. We'll share those with all of you when we're closer to finalizing that.

The great news is that we will be moving forward with hiring all of our stretch goal scenario writers! However, we'll still need to find a bit more funding before we can get our stretch goal artists onboard...which brings us to BackerKit! We are working on getting that set up and we should have that ready as a link for everyone to access in the coming weeks.

Once we have the BackerKit ready and the digital version ready, digital and physical backers will be receiving the digital copy! Please note that our target date for that is still September 2022 as noted on the Kickstarter, so things are still on track!

As some of you may know already, there are global supply chain issues, so the physical version may take some time to get into our hands. We are hoping for everything to get to us by February 2023 (as mentioned on the main page), but we just wanted to give you all a heads up in case things take a while.

In the meantime, if you are interested in any of our other games (that are not spooky), here is our website and a few of our games that we have available for purchase and are ready to be shipped out now!

In Questlings: RPG, players will play as two characters, one as your kid form and one as the Inner Hero your child aspires to be! The game guides players and game moderators through a map accompanied with a storybook to give them a framework for roleplaying and building the story and making it easy for players new to RPGs and new GMs to run a game as well! It's great for kids who want to get into roleplaying games.

In Battle of the Boy Bands, 3 to 5 players take on the roles of producers in the pop music industry and must build boy bands to compete in special events. The player with the most points at the end of six rounds wins! It's great for that person in your life who loves boybands!

Lair is a competitive building game where you are in charge of constructing a 60’s era, underground HQ — inside a volcano, no less — for your nefarious boss. It has a Euro-influenced, worker placement mechanic where you have two types of workers: the lowly henchmen that you use to claim a room, and the boss that can command henchmen to activate the ability of the room. You spend Work Tokens to command a henchmen, but if you command another player’s henchmen, you have to give that player the Work Token. It also has an expanding score track that doubles as the elevator shaft, which affects your build options and game strategy in interesting ways. It's great for evil villains!

THANK YOU!

Thank you all so much! Because of you, not only did we hit our funding goal, but we also managed to hit two stretch goals, ending the campaign with 622 backers at $21,699

What does this mean now?

We unfortunately didn't manage to hit our other stretch goal collaborators, but that's okay! We'll be continuing to work hard to find funding to get them onboard, whether that means getting more funding through BackerKIt, or negotiating with our partners to get our costs down.

As for our next steps, we'll be:

  • Getting all the text in the coloring book clarified
  • Onboarding and working with Matt W (welcome to the team Matt! We'll be giving you all an introduction on his work soon) on a section to clarify the difference between residential schools and boarding schools, with information on residential schools
  • Getting ALL the text edited by quinn b. rodriguez (we already have our rules edited by Jeff Fraser, but we need eyes to look over grammar and inconsistencies)
  • Working with Jon Merchant to get all the graphic design and layout ready
  • Building out the BackerKit and getting it ready in a few weeks
  • Sending out the digital copies
  • Sending out the Google Slides version of the game
  • SENDING THE FILES OUT TO PRINTTTTT (before they send us the copies—this process is the most unpredictable and can turn into a bit of a waiting game)

Thanks again and we can't wait to share this game with you all!
